SFHS Jr Prom

It is 2:00AM.

I just got back from Prom.

I had a pretty long day. Woke up at 845 and drove home from my dad's place. I had to clean up the house because people were supposed to come over for Showcase practice. No one else ended up going except for Ariana and Jomar so we just learned as much as we could and then chilled. Went out to eat at noon at Safeway and then we all went home to get ready for Prom.
A lot of people were taking their SATs at this time.

I pretty much chilled until Jomar picked me up and we went to Ariana's to meet up. We all left after taking pictures in Roseanne's car. Arrived at the Holidae Inn and got a call from Justin Lai's car that they were dropped off by their limo at the wrong hotel! They ended up getting a ride over.

We went inside and got out tables. We sat at the tables against the wall. The decorations were pretty nice. Dark room with a Monte Carlo theme and Masquerade masks around.  Marissa and I took pictures. The food came and we spent a lot of time eating. Then the music went on.
It was a fun night. A lot of teachers were there and I got to see Mr. Gray-Lee (librarian) dance and Mr. Shuggs dance to the Cupid Shuffle. It was funny. I saw a few sophomores, someone told me there were 19 there.

Unfortunately that night, the boys varsity basketball team lost in the NorCal finals against the second seeded Rocklin. They were much bigger than us and we had to rely on jump shots and threes. The final score was 70-65. Good job guys and thanks for a GREAT season. It was fun.
When they arrived, they all came in Tuxedo printed Tee-shirts and jeans. It was cool.

Anyway, the night went on with some all right music by Mr.C, of course he had to please the entire audience so there were times when I just had to sit down because of the music. Anyway, Prom ended at about 11-1130pm or so. We headed to the lobby and were the last group to leave with the Chileans.

We headed to Denny's down the street after and just chilled there for about 2 hours. Marissa pulled 36 bobby pins out of her hair. Roseanne had 47.

Jesse and Marissa left, so the rest of us got dropped off. Jomar stayed at my house for a bit and then I drove him home. Ending the day/night. Happy Sunday.

Pictures up soon!

Just Some Great Days

I've just been having great days lately.

Thursday 3/12/09
Substitute for first period Spanish, so I didn't have to turn in my essay (which I didn't do), so that was greaaat. My next two classes were pretty chill and we didn't do much. I ended the school day in Drums where my teacher was gone, yet again, so we got to just chill for 85 minutes. We popped in a movie and watched Be Kind, Rewind, which is actually I very great movie. I enjoyed it a lot while just playing cards and eating the whole time with Khrysten and Demi.

After school, I went to practice and we had to take team pictures. Unfortunately, like half of the Frosh/Soph team didn't bring their uniforms so we had to make things happen. I borrowed Shimono's uniform and wore the varsity for pictures. Then, I just coasted for the rest of practice.

I went to the NorCal semi-finals afterwards. Saint Francis vs. Fairfield.  It was a great game. We opened the game with 2 threes by Shawn Grant and I remember that LasJohn Johnson had this huge block on a three pointer. He went up so high and swatted the ball, it looked like he was playing volleyball. Anyway, we went on to win 63-52. Going to NorCal finals against Rocklin!

Friday 3/13/09
Happy Friday the 13th, (2nd of 3)
I had another good day at school. It was just something I felt. Maybe just going to school more positive. I had a pretty easy day to end the week. I finished watching this chess movie called Searching for Bobby Fisher in Psych class.
After school, I skipped practice and just chilled. I went to the MHS Spring Dance that night. It was kind of weak, but fun.

Hopefully, nothing bad happens soon after a good way to end the week.

Pictures up soon.

CCS D-II Champs

Friday, March 6. 8:30pm

SFHS vs Mitty
Final score: Lancers-63 Monarchs-55

It was a packed night at Santa Clara University. Every seat taken all the way to the top. The game was pretty close, neck and neck through the 3rd. Saint Francis began to pull away in the 4th though after switching to zone defense. Hitting threes, getting steals and offensive rebounds. It was a fun game.

I headed down to the packed Rage Cage at the half. The game itself was very fun. Each side had the student section, but it seemed as if the stadium was about 70% SFHS fans. Behind each backboard were the school bands. SFHS covered the entire corner with all brown band members, while Mitty had about 10-15 people in their little corner.

There was an intense band battle as well, after Mitty played one of our songs a few intermissions after we played the same song. Lancer fans were booing. At the next intermission, the entire band stood up and played the same song AGAIN, but with so much more intensity. Everyone felt bad for Mitty. It was really fun. Chanting and screaming with the band.

Anyway, it was a good game. Mitty prolonged the game within the final minute trying to foul when they were down by 16.

Central Coast Section Divison-II Champions !
An incredible season, after last years 2 win season, turning it around to win CCS. Our last CCS title was in 2002.

NorCal here we come!

First week of March

I didn't really realize it was March already!
There are soooo many things going on this month.
I started reading my first book for Lent, Kira-Kira by Cynthia Kadohata.

The first of the month was Miggy's birthday. A lot has been going on at school this week. I've had a lot of work to do. I started Track & Field officially on Wednesday. Really late, but I'm glad I was still able to join. Coach made me choose between the Showcase and Track... I decided that I was going to do track, but practice for the showcase on the weekends. So I'm going to have a very hectic month trying to balance everything. I'm going to be participating in the Long Jump. Don't really want to do anything else. At least I'll be getting college credit. The JV Volleyball team isn't doing to well either, so screw them. The Boys Varisty basketball players have been doing verrry well. Won the WCAL, gotten past CCS rounds and are headed to the finals against Mitty.

This entire week was raining ! It was pouring, the most rain we had all year. Even though it was a pain at school, I'm glad it rained so much in this drought that we're having.

I can already feel the stress from this month. School, track practice, homework, helping out with confirmation on Friday's, and then Showcase practice on the weekends and whenever I can. The hula/tahitian dances are in trouble because they barely started practicing, if at all. And the hip-hop routine has to get it together.

Marissa asked me to Prom on Tuesday so that was cool.

14-SFHS Jr. Prom

Here is a poem I wrote about struggle:

Discover Self

I know why I have to rise

Like a balloon in the open blue;

None can really realize,

The struggles that I have to go through;

Day by day I see their eyes,

Judging who I am, what I can do;

I wish to be recognized --

For I know that I have value, too;

This is how I know I’ll rise,

Cause God cleared the path for me to do.

I know why my parents push me,

Cause they have a high expectation;

They came across the open sea,

And gave to me an education;

Pressure in fulfilling to be –

-- Great is much easier said than done;

As my family legacy,

Opens -- Failure is not an option;

I have responsibility

To face the world and not to run.

I know I can find myself,

Within the little, emerging seed;

Put aside the struggle now,

I’m free to be whatever I please;

For if I believe in me,

Someday I’ll become a big strong tree;

There is only one of me

In this world, what’s my identity?

But through all these struggles Lord,

You and I can handle anything;

Thank you God for everything!
