Its hard to believe 2009 is over. It was a pretty fast year. The main thing going on was my involvement with school.

With the family watching the Rose Bowl with my cousins and went to downtown that night.

How was schoo​l this year?​

Second Semester of Sophomore year, I definitely felt lazy. Senioritis and shizz rubbing off on me. Anyway, it was all right. I slacked a lot, even on my SAT-II. First semester of Junior year was tough. I wasn't too motivated to do anything. I had to push through during the last few weeks of school. I ended up with pretty average grades.

I've made many new friends. From school, church, neighborhood.

My determination to finish school strong! Improve family life. Be more social at school.

2009 has been a great year. Seems like every year just gets better. Sure there are some bumps along the way, but getting through them make the year feel that much better. This year has really challenged me.

Saint Francis High School 75% of the time. Eat, Sleep, Live at SFHS.

I did. The main thing was to become more active. And I'm pretty sure I accomplished that. I think I'm over active now. I'm involved in way too many things. For school, I'm part of Student Council, Board Member of three major clubs, I am working for my mom, driving Mimi around practice. I took up a lot of responsibility. Its really scary of how much I have to handle. But hey, I asked for it, and I got it.

Not really. Besides a new lens for my camera, I cut down on buying things from the internet.

I watched Fringe at the beginning of the year, but that died out. I don't have time for TV anymore! And no, I haven't seen an episode of Glee.

I actually got sick more than usual this year. Working too much!

I improved in photography.

It's scary. The feeling of growing up. I really miss being a kid.

I didn't want Tim to be alone for Christmas so he spent the night at our place. We stayed up playing 2k10 and watching Inglorious Bastards. Matt calls at like 3am and asks if we want to watch the sunrise. No suprise, no one wakes up in time. Matt never called cause he slept in. Fail.

No one was really feeling Christmas this year. No decorations or tree or anything. Dad was on a business trip. Mom had work.

I completely bullshitted my English final. Everything was crap. I felt like that was the worst final ever. Surprisingly, I got a 77% on my essay and a 78% on my final. I aced my Chemistry and Religion final. I got an 84% on my Math final and a 74% on my Drawing final. I got an 85% on both my Spanish and History finals.

After Finals-

Religion: A- 89.6%

Chemistry: A- 91%

GPA - 3.54 unweighted/ 3.68 weighted

YEEEE! Hella close! Border line on Religion, English, and Math! Somehow, my grade in History went up, even though I did worse on the final.

CCS Girls Tennis won Semi-finals

7th Grade Day at SFHS so Mr. Speckman asked me to help out and give tours and answer questions during the program. During Q&A, one of the parents asked about the difference between Holy Cross and Jesuits. Everyone answered. I think I represented well. Nervous though.

After we gave quick tours around campus and then got some dinner.

I dropped off Mimi at home and then headed to SJB for mass. It was Mrs. WB's funeral ceremony.

We all headed to the reception after in Pavalkis hall and I got to see some of my old friends and SJB teachers and Alumni.

Saint Francis won 66-13 against SHC in the regular season final at home. Coach Mitchell was thrown a party after for his last home game. Kyle Miller broke some school records for TD passes. Headed to the CCS playoffs!

I spent time with my dad this weekend. I hadn't seen him in a few weeks. It felt good.

Saint Francis vs Bellarmine game

Huge crowd. I wasn't really feelin' it after school. It wasn't until the kickoff that I really got excited. Ran up and down the sidelines cheering and taking pictures.

The rally at the beginning of the day really un-pumped me. It wasn't bad, but it didn't hold me spirit up. It started off pretty cool with the whole team doing the Haka.

After school things got busy. I had to set up the BBQ for work grant. It started raining, so I was nervous for the game. Luckily, the skies cleared up.

Now for the game, it was a very intense match up. Great rivalry. I was hella into it all week. Pumped up, researching the rivalry and what not. Saint Francis started off pretty bad and slow. We had two costly turn overs in the first half that destroyed all our momentum. We trailed at the half 14-0. In the second half, we came back and got things rolling! Came out strong with passion and attacked the ground game. Kyle Miller and company eventually tied the game up at 21-21 with about 3min left in the 4th with a touchdown pass. Our defense couldn't hold Bellarmine and they got the leading score with 1 min remaining, BUT they missed the extra point! Now we got the ball back with a chance to win the game. The pressure was on and both sides were pumped and going crazy. We had a few long throws, but the Bell's defense was excellent. They sacked us twice for a loss and got the clock rolling. With only one shot left, Miller threw the ball down field but was far off from the endzone and time expiring.

Bellarmine won 27-21 in a tight finish. Hats off to their defense, they stopped us in the crucial plays. And our three or four turnovers costed us the game. We'll see them again in the playoffs.

SFHS Open House

Gaaahhhh...

Day light savings is here at last! Finally! Had to wait allll the way until November.

Anyway, despite having an "extra hour" of sleep today, I had to wake up at 8AM to getting ready and be at school by 845am for Open House. I was working a few booths until I went to one of the class stops where students were giving talks. I was chosen to help lead a talk on the Social aspect of our school. Yaaay. I was a bit nervous so my first speech was very rattled. My voice cracked and I stuttered. Hooray. Whatever, I carried on with enthusiasm. Worked the whole day 8am-3pm. Got home and was extremely tired.

Halloween 09

Halloweeeeen. So I started the day off waking up early at 830am. My mom asked me to help out at the shop today so I was out of bed and on my way to work. The morning started off slowly but I worked until about 3pm. Was off and then drove home to meet up with Jomar. Christian and Ray soon came after. We chilled at my house for a bit and Jomar drew my costume on my face for me. I was Mike Tyson for Halloween. We kinda just chilled at my place until it got dark and Matt showed up. We headed to Walmart for Matt's costume and then went back to Jomars for his get together. We chilled and had a bunch of laughs. Night time came and we decided to go for a bit of trick or treating. Went around the neighborhood messing around.

A bit later a few of us decided to bounce and head off to Kevin Miranda's for his Halloween thing. It was pretty chill. Had some food, threw the football around, and some dancing. We stayed there from 830pm to about 1030ish and then bounced. I guess everyone decided to party hop and head over to Jimmy's. It was cool there. Didn't do much and didn't want to get too involved. So we bounced at 1130 and headed home.

Junior Retreat

JUNIOR RETREAT!

I didn't really know what to expect coming into Junior Retreat. I honestly forgot and wasn't even conscious about it. I was wondering how I would take the experience. I didn't have too many friends on the trip and I was a little intimidated about the popular girl's clique that also went on the retreat. Out of all of it, I just decided not to anticipate, and just participate.

The retreat went very well. I got to connect with people and learn about a few of my classmates, which I otherwise would have never talked to. It was great having deep conversations about our beliefs and seeing different views and perspectives of faith and life. I'm glad I got to talk to a lot of people because it helped me realize that we are all just people and there is definitely a lot more to each one of us that how we are seen by appearance.

I am really glad that I got the chance to go on this retreat with this group of people. There were many reinforcing affirmations that made me feel good. Its very interesting to see how people perceive me to be and I am very thankful.

MV Mayor's Youth Conference

I got to skip school today to attend the City of Mountain View's Mayor's Youth Conference with the BRIC Brothers representing Saint Francis. There were some other schools in the area that were represented as well. Karl Orotea was there from MVA. The conference basically took up the whole day and focused on prejudices and first judgments of people in the community. It was pretty cool.

SFHS Homecoming 09

Saturday-

Woke up at 10am. Met up with Cmara at Valleyfair for hella last minute shopping. Apparently Miggy and Troy were there at the same time as us. Anyway, we found something to wear and were hella hungry. Called up Matt to go eat. He met up with us at Vfair, but we ended up heading back to SJ for Savory Chicken. Hah. We all went home to get ready. I picked up Chanda and we headed to Cynthia's house with Matt. Got there and waited for Cmara to come. We took pictures at the country club/golf course. Shortly after, we headed back to Cynthia's for some food. Bounced after a bit and we headed towards SFHS early because I had to work some shifts during the night. Got there around 740pm and started setting up. Dance got started and I was still working. I felt REALLY bad for Chanda. She was helping out too. Thank you!

Anyway, the dance was pretty fun and we took pictures. Highlight of the night, JLAI AND ALI HAGER WIN HOMECOMING KING AND QUEEN. YEEEEEE!

Stayed after the dance to help clean up. Administrators were VERY pleased with how we handled it. They said one of the best dances in the last few years. Success!

Anyway, the whole group headed to IHOP after. Most of us didn't get home until late. Dropped Chanda off home and then got home around 2am. Crashed.

HC Day 5 - Play Day

Play Day was pretty legit. One of the better play days. Got to school hella early and practiced the class dance. Juniors did pretty well in class competitions. Class dance wasn't that bad! We managed to organize some kind of routine early in the morning.

Afterschool, stayed the whole time...-_- had to work for work grant. Homecoming game was pretty good. We smashed Riordan. Justin Lai got to sit on "the couch". I left the game early and drove to SJCC to see the Bell/Mitty game. Hella intense. Mitty won in double overtime. Verrrry exciting game. After the game, went with MattG to Charmaine's for her party. Bounced soon after, went to Chanda's to see her dress, then went to Tacobell and got some food before heading home.

Friday 2nd -

So Friday night had no plans so I spent the night with my dad and Mimi. We went to watch the Bruce Willis movie Surrogates. Good quality family time.

Saturday 3rd -

So Saturday morning, I wake up with a clear Saturday schedule. Called up Matt and headed to his house. Not knowing how to spend a great Saturday we brain stormed on ideas. There were numerous other things going on today: Ilikas(AJ Rafael/Cathy Nguyen/etc. Concert) with FSA at MHS, or Lovefest in SF.

We decided to hit to take an adventure to Oakland to get some Chicken&Waffles at Roscoe's and try something new. Called up Chanda and the three of us were off to Oakland. It was a pretty good day. Clear skies, sunny with a nice breeze. We arrived at Roscoe's and got a delicious meal of chicken, waffles, and mashed potatoes. We walked around the harbor for awhile and then decided to hit up San Francisco, so we drove off. We decided to take a stroll through Pier39. Got stopped by a social service worker for having "Too big of a smile". We donated to a soup kitchen. Walked around some more while taking pictures. It got cold and reaaaallly windy so we started randomly running around the harbor. Drove back home and listened to a relaxing playlist.

We went back to Matt's house and just chilled for a couple hours. We decided to meet up with the people that went to the concert to eat at In-N-Out. Chilled for a bit there before everyone went back to Matt's for some karaoke. I went home with good feeling from yet another relaxing day.

Sunday 4th-

So this morning, I woke up and Jomar gave me a call. He wanted to go work out. So he came over and we worked out in the gym at my dad's place. For lunch, we met up with Chrissie and the cousin's after their marathon race and celebrated Chrissie's 25th birthday. We headed back to dad's to watch the Niner's game. Church later that night.

So I've been trying to get all my school work done early so today I could celebrate of my best friend's birthday's. I planned out a small get together celebration for him short noticed. After school, I headed home and got some homework done. I met up with Matt while he was working at Blush to finish up the rest of my homework. A few other people met up at Blush to greet Matt and we all kinda just stayed at Blush doing homework, while waiting for him to get off work. At around 7, we headed off to Applebee's for dinner. Chilled&ate for a good two hours. We had a good time. Happy birthday bro. You deserve it.

SJB Festival!

Friday 25th

Today was definitely a chill day.I didn't really care much for school today. I just went through the day chilling and anticipating the time after school. The Notre Dame mixer was also tonight and so was the first day of the SJB festival. I decided to go to the SJB festival. Christian, Ray, Cindy, Tim, and I went to Wingstop to get some food before the festival. Headed to Blush after to say hi to Chanda, Cat, Shawna, and Cynthia. Then off to SJB. It was a pretty chill night. I got to see a lot of old friends. It wasn't great or anything, but I was just enjoying being in the company of my old friends. We spent a good 3 or so hours there before heading off to Marti's house to celebrate her birthday. We sang karaoke to end the night. It was relaxing.

Today was pretty much the same as the first. Just more chilling. I forget the rest.

Monday 9/21

So today I was called into the dean's office regarding my photos that I posted on Facebook. Apparently, I violated a law by posting pictures of people under the age of 18. And since SFHS is a private school and I was using a school yearbook pass to take the pictures, I directly violated the school's rules. So I guess on my part, it was my fault. I didn't think it would be that big of deal. They told me that since the pictures were leaked, they could no longer use them for the yearbook and they "didn't want to lose [me]" as a yearbook photographer. I felt pretty upset that none of my photos would be used. Anyway, it went on that because I am shooting for the school for the yearbook, all my shots would be in the full possession of the school, and that I would have no ownership of my photos, which I used my own equipment to shoot. That upset me. I had a few days to think about my position on the yearbook. Some rumors went off that I gave the moderator some attitude. I thought that was ridiculous because I never indented to cause trouble. Just wanted to get the facts straight. No one ever told me these "hidden" rule when I signed up. No where in the handbook is it stated that I can't do what I did. Oh well.

Tuesday 22nd

Loaded up with work. I tried my best to get all my school work done so that I would have less to worry about for the next day. Gaaah. There needs to be more hours in the day...

Wednesday 23st

So today I decided to resign my position as photographer for the yearbook. I just couldn't let go of that fact that the school owns every picture I take. Posting is part of my hobby and its a way to get my work out. Today was definitely a busy day. Loads of things taken care of. I asked Chanda to Homecoming. :)

Thursday 24th

Today I begin relaxing. I got most of my work done within the first three days of the week so I can just coast for the rest of the week. I went to Foster's Freeze after school with Matt, Eric, and Tim for dinner. We chilled for a couple hours and ate.

I got a pass pretty much everyday of the week this week. Junior year is so busy! Time management is KEY!

Kick off!

Friday:

I've been really excited for this day all year. Today was Senior Drive-In, First Rally, and First home game kick-off. I felt a lot of school spirit throughout the day and was generally upbeat and excited, being a school photographer might have added to this. The morning started off with the Senior Drive-In. This is a sort of parade that all the Seniors take part in and drive through the school campus with decked out cars or floats. It was pretty good this year. The big attractions were a huge double-decker float with seniors dancing on top, a fire truck, and Asian Invasion with a caravan of cars decorated in a form of a dragon.

The first rally of the year was certainly not a disappointment. Rally board did a pretty good job, IMO. As Juniors now, we get to sit in the lower bleachers and have a front and center view of the rally. Its pretty cooling being a photographer. I get to walk around and have privileges that other people don't. We had a special guest SFHS grad Megan McArther who was an astronaut that came to visit us.

Anyway, the rest of the day was pretty chill. After school I hung out until 5pm when I had to start working. Worked with George in the cafeteria. As kick-off started, I headed to the field to take pictures of the game. Although I came out with some pretty decent pictures, I was very disappoint in our game. We lost our opener to Palma. Our guys were a bit over confident and we gave up a couple key plays. Other than that, I thought we were able to win. Anyway, I got to see a lot of old friends. Ray, Troy, Jomar, Lucian, Miggy, Oliver, and Brandon showed up. And Kiki came to see the game as well! Hellllla missed her and her vibrant personality. I shot with Justin Lai throughout the game. Afterwards, I headed home and met up with Jomar, Lucian, Ray, and Troy and played cars at Jomar's place.

Sat:

This morning I woke up at 11 and spent the afternoon editing pictures and watching college football. Later that day, Christian and Chanda came over and we chilled. Got some Gyros for dinner before Christian left to his grandma's place. Chanda and I drove around waiting for Mara to come back. We went to his grandma's place and hungout for a bit. I left home a bit later.

Sunday:

Today I had to be at school at 9AM to work an Alumni Weekend Reunion. The class of '79 came to visit. I worked until about 230pm and went home. I drove over to my dad's place to watch the Niner game with him and finish some homework. Then I went to the youth mass 5th year anniversary. I came home and did more homework.

Labor Day Weekend

Friday:

Weeeek is done! Today was the first time I could sleep in. It felt pretty good. I got through the day and chilled after school. Jomar, Lucian, and Troy visited a chilled. Today was game day, the first game of the season at Oak Grove. We were pumped because the game would be featured on KTVU2. Last year, they killed us, so we were out for revenge. So, we chilled after school for a good 2 hours. Relocated in Milpitas at Blush and chilled. Friday night was split between going to the game, going to a party, or just chillin in Milpitas. I decided to just chill. I had a relaxing Friday night outside of my house chilling with Christian, Troy, Jomar, Lucian, Matt, and Chanda.

I got news from the OG game and we ended up smashing them 35-0. Solid. Ended the night at Jomar's chillin.

Saturday:

No food all day. Chilled. Watched football all day. Went to dad's and watched more football. Ate Red Robins. Crashed

Sunday:

Went home. Chilled with Jomar. Went to Subway for lunch with Matt and Jomar. Hit up Michael's with Arian, Justin and Roseanne for Drive-In supplies. Hit up Christian's house with Matt after. Chill there for a bit before leaving for Preston's 1st birthday party. Chill with the cousins. Went to church. Came home and took a long walk.

Monday:

Tired. Wake up and spend day with Mom for her birthday. Drive up to SF for food. Mom yells at me. Felt horrible. Eat. Go home. Homework for the rest of the day.

Someone hit my car today. Was parked in the Prospect HS parking lot and as I was leaving, I saw a note under my windshield. Someone hit my car! I am glad that the person did the right thing and left a note.

September Comes!

Bring on September. I'm hyped. Football season is here. The feel of Autumn is here. I can't wait for sweater weather. The first few days of the month were chill.

Saturday-

Nothing to do on a Saturday night, so I decided to go check out the Back to School Dance. Theme was Marti Gras. We have the Back to School Dance outside in our open Quad, so that was something different. Anyway, IMO the dance was waaack. I had some good laughs though. Joking around with Allison was fun.

Sunday-

Chill with dad. Finish up some homework. Went to Ymass. Came home excited that Monday would be a Gold day and I get to start school at 845am. I receive a message from Justin that there is a Photography Club Board meeting first thing in the morning at 745am. So much for sleeping in. -____-

First Week of School

Its been one week and already I'm coming home late, sleeping late, and falling asleep in classes.

Anyway, here is what my first week has been like:

Monday-

School at 7:45am. Long hours of classes during the day. After school I chilled for a bit and then headed off the Prospect High School for open gym Volleyball with Hieu. Come home tired from a 5 hour night, full day of school, and 2 hours of volleyball. Then I realize that I haven't even finished reading my summer reading that I have a test for the tomorrow. Spend the whole night finish watching the 5 hour movie while reading chapter summarizes and notes. Day repeats tomorrow.

Tuesday-

No collaboration. School at 7:45am again for Holy Cross Meeting. Summer reading test. I stay at school all the way until 8pm for a Bric Brothers Membership Renewal. Come home and do homework. Sleep late again, wake up early for the next day.

Wednesday-

School at 7:45am. Sleepy during classes. School is over. Chill for a bit. Open gym at Prospect until 6pm. Come home to a new lens! Yeeee! Nikkor 80-200 f/2.8 ED AF-D push/pull version. I'm pretty happy about the lens. Procrastinate for hours. Do homework. Sleep late, wake up early.

Thursday-

So finaally I can sleep in because school starts at 8:45! Oh wait! Student Council meeting.

-_____- The only day out of the week I can sleep in, I have to be at school promptly at 7:45am. Yay.. Anyway, the first meeting of the year was pretty good. I have a good feel of how things work. Normal school biz. Falling asleep in all my classes. Get a referral at the end of school. Get out of it. Chill for a bit. Go home early! Chill with Lynn, but then I fall asleep and take a nap until 6. Finished up all my homework and now I'm a free man! Tomorrow is Friday!

So today was just insanely hot. I had the last period of the day in the 400s, which has no AC. It felt like a sauna. Humidity rose because the room was packed. Why is the first week of school so hot when the last week of summer so cold? Anyway, after school we decided that it was the prefect time for swimming. Lynn, Mimi, and I went to Blush before to visit Matt and Chanda. Then, Mimi and I headed over to Angela's where I ran into Merrick and Kalani. Went swimming with Ariana, Jomar, Angela, Mimi, and I for a bit. Left soon after and went to dinner with mom. Drove back to the pool and just chilled. Spent the next few hours just chilling with Lucian, Troy, and Jomar. Miggy showed up hours later. It was a relaxing Friday.
